- One of the greatest natural healers in the last century was the late John Bastyr, ND. He is regarded today as the Father of Modern Naturopathy and was a important teacher and mentor of mine while I attended Bastyr University (Class of '84). He was once asked what the fundamental difference was between a naturopath (ND) and allopath (MD). He replied in his soft and gentle voice, “with naturopathy, it’s not the doctor that does the healing, it’s the patient”.
