It is our office policy regarding appointments that all patients practice common courtesy. If you are unable to keep an appointment time, you should give us at least 24 hours notice. Patients who give less than 24 hours notice or who do not show up for an appointment will incur a $35.00 charge. A “no show” for your banding appointment or multiple broken appointments (2 or more) will result in immediate discontinuation of treatment and dismissal from the practice. If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, we will be forced to reschedule you for another day/time. Dr. Leslee will not allow one late patient to cause other scheduled patients’ appointments to run late.
Each patient is allowed 3 breakages for the duration of treatment. Patients who have appliances cemented in his/her mouth are allowed 3 recementations. After 3 times, there will be a $25.00 excessive breakage charge per broken item to cover the cost of repairs. Patients who have headgear will be charged a $15.00 fee each time the headgear is broken or lost. If any repair involves a lab fee, the patient will be responsible for such fee. If the appliance cannot be repaired, it will be replaced at our current fee. Our Financial Coordinator will be happy to explain all fees to you. If a wire is sticking, we are always happy to clip that at no extra charge. Teeth should always be kept clean. If a patient has problem areas, we are happy to re-instruct them on brushing these areas. However, if a patient fails to respond to brushing instructions by coming to 3 appointments with dirty teeth, swollen gums, or any parts of the braces broken, all appliances will be removed.
An orthodontic emergency is when the patient suffers trauma to the head area, is in extreme pain, and you don’t know what to do (always consult your “Road to a Super Smile” guide first). If this occurs, please call the office immediately. If an emergency occurs after hours, there will be a contact number left on the answering service. If the patient is experiencing minor pain or discomfort (i.e. a wire is rubbing against the inside of the mouth, teeth are sore from an adjustment, etc.), first do what you can do to stop the pain. Second, call the office and we will be happy to discuss the problem with you.
