Dr. Janell Carroll received her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989, and her bachelor's degree from Denison University in 1982. Dr. Carroll has been teaching at the college level for over 16 years and has taught in the psychology department at the University of Hartford in Connecticut for the past ten years. She is an AASECT-certified sexuality educator and has received numerous awards for her teaching and work in the field of human sexuality. In 2005 the University of Hartford recognized her with the Gordon Clark Ramsey Award for Creative Excellence, an award given to professors who demonstrate sustained excellence and creativity in the classroom. Carroll has also been recognized by Planned Parenthood as a Sexuality Educator of the Year. As a professor, Dr. Carroll has been honored with awards for Professor of the Year and Most Outstanding Person on Campus. In addition, Dr. Carroll has written syndicated sexuality articles and has hosted a popular nightly call-in radio show about on sexuality.
She is also a consultant to professional groups, educational institutions, and women's organizations. She is a dynamic speaker and the author of numerous published articles and college-level textbooks on psychology and human sexuality. She has appeared as an expert on such televison news and entertainment networks as Oxygen Television, Lifetime Television, and the Montel Williams show and has received mention in the Los Angeles Times, Prevention, Self and Men's Health magazines, among other publications. Her works have also appeared in a variety of Internet news media outlets and cyber-press stories.
