Decatur Public School District 61 is the 22nd largest unit district in the state of Illinois, serving approximately 9000 students. The district consists of one Pre-Kindergarten center, 13 Kindergarten-Sixth Grade elementary schools, three Kindergarten-Eighth Grade schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and an alternative education program. The district also operates a regional Technical Academy and is the administrative agent for the Macon-Piatt Special Education District.
