Jesus’ birth marks one of the most significant points in all history. 2000 years ago, the world was a place where people were caught in darkness. Israel was longing for an earthly king to rescue them from Herod and the empire’s oppression. They knew the prophecies found in the Old Testament which were passed down over the generations. Herod and the other forces of darkness knew of the prophecies as well. He longed to snuff out the Light by killing Jesus before his 2nd birthday.
