Don Amado's producers have been distilling fine mezcal in Mexico's Sierra de Juarez for over three hundred years; but always in limited quantities and for the most special occasions --remote village weddings, festivals, quinceñeras and baby births.
In 1996, Don Amado Mezcal was introduced to the American liquor market for the first time, and its popularity has been growing ever since. Customers have recognized our commitment to producing Don Amado according to traditional methods that date back to the sixteenth century, while simultaneously incorporating technologies that yield a smoother, more naturally enjoyable spirit. Every drop is twice distilled in handmade ceramic pots, from a mash of roasted agave and clear spring water from the volcanic ridges and valleys of Mexico's high Sierra. As has been done in this rural region for generations, each agave plant is hand-selected by skilled harvesters based on maturity, sugar content and ideal soil moisture levels.
