The Lamar Benton story began in Blue Springs, Alabama, more than a few years ago on the date of my birth to Myrtle Mercer Benton (deceased) and J. Lee Benton (deceased). My early years were spent on various farms in the Barbour County and Houston County (Alabama) area. During my 12th year, we moved to "town." Town was a bustling community of 17,000 known as Dothan, named after that little verse in Genesis,"For I heard them say, let us go unto Dothan."
