Description
Training was above the Gym in the function room, which also played host to celebrity fashion & Body building shows, discos and for a time even ran its own magazine, all arranged by the owners Ray & Alex.
Not to be outdone the karate club also joined in by hosting a disco & sponsored push-up, to raise money for the Great Britain Knockdown team (of which Nick da Costa was a member) attending the inaugural 1988 Commonwealth Championships in Australia, raising £1400 in the process.
The club has had a long history of success in competitions but the last few years have pleasingly reaped success on all fronts with National Senior & Junior champions in Knockdown, Point-scoring (wuko & clicker) and Kata. Reflecting the ethos of the club, that a karate-ka (person studying karate) should aspire to excellence in all aspects of the art!
