- Thank you for joining us at one of Leadville's incredible historic buildings. This saloon, built in the early 1880's, was home of John Henry "Doc" Holliday and his last gunfight. Holliday, a Southern gentleman dentist turned gambler and gunfighter, shot and wounded former Leadville Sheriff, Billy allen, in 1884 over a $5 loan. In the past century, the Hyman building has been home to numerous characters and businesses, including the famous VIP Brothel. Matthew and Ann Slevin bought the building in 2007 and spent a year remodeling and renovating the building to restore it, as much as possible, to its original character. Doc Holliday's Bar and Grill was opened in May 2008. Thank you, again, for joining us!
