About Django Djazz
Django Reinhardt (1910-1953) was the first European musician recognized by the American jazz community, and he has influenced every generation of guitarist that has followed him. A recent internet search revealed nearly one hundred recordings, the earliest of which date back to 1928. There are numerous festivals, clubs, and societies dedicated to preserving the legacy of this legendary jazz artist.
Django Djazz is the combined talents of bassist Lee Burrows and guitarist Nikolai Svishev. Inspired by the late great Reinhardt, and with respect for his music, the duo plays his compositions and other music of his era.
Django Djazz also includes in its repertoire contemporary music of genres they think Reinhardt might play if he were here today.
