Disabled Accessible Travel was born out of the recognition that cruise ship operators rarely, if ever, provide shoreside excursions for the disabled, especially if a wheelchair user.
Cruise operators contract GROUND HANDLERS in each port to organise local facilities for them, including tours and excursions.
The problem for everyone is mis-information or no information at all. Tour agencies do not know beyond on-board disabled facilities what is available for the disabled at each port of call, neither do the cruise operators as the ground handlers rarely know themselves, however efforts are made to give some information to end users even if that information is incorrect.
