Different Types of Air Control Dampers

Dampers have become an integral part of any modern construction. When it comes to the installation of safety measures of any building States or countries have their specified standards. The basic function that dampers serve is to control air flow. There are different other types of dampers that are meant for specific use like controlling fire or smoke. Some dampers help in making air flow in both directions while the others help in the movement of air in only one direction. Air Control Dampers can either completely shut off the air flow within a closed area or they can regulate the flow of air within a structure or room. Places like factories, shopping mall, hospital, hotels and restaurants cannot do without these dampers because they help in maintaining the quality of inside air.

Breathing in foul or unhealthy air for a long time make the occupants sick. Air Control Dampers help in resolving any issue regarding the air flow within a closed structure. These dampers are installed within the air handling units or the ducts. Such dampers can be controlled manually or are available with automatic controls. Automatic dampers come with in-built sensors in them so that as and when required foul air is thrown out of the structure to keep the environment fresh and healthy.

Generally rectangular louvred type is used when Air Control Dampers are installed within an air-conditioning or ventilation system of a building. These dampers come with rectangular blades placed on spindles and can be parallel blades rotating in the same direction or they also as opposed blades with adjacent blades rotating in opposite directions.
