What is DPC?
DPC is an independent, nationwide, non-profit, patient-governed dialysis patient organization. We are dedicated to improving dialysis patients' quality of life by developing awareness of dialysis-related issues, advocating for dialysis and pre-dialysis patients, improving the partnership between patients and caregivers, and promoting favorable public policy.
Only dialysis and pre-dialysis patients and their families are eligible for membership in DPC. Membership in DPC is open to all dialysis patients across the country – regardless of which provider they dialyze with.
The current name of our organization includes the name “DaVita” to make clear that we were founded and thus far solely funded by DaVita Inc. – we do not hide that fact. However, it is our intention to remain independent of DaVita in every way, including in our governance, formulation of policy and actions. To that end, most of our Board members are dialysis patients.
