About Us
The De Queen Daily Citizen is published Monday through Friday and its coverage area includes all of Sevier County and some surrounding counties. The De Queen Bee is published every Thursday. It shares the same coverage area as the Citizen. The Citizen's paid circulation is 2,650 and the Bee's paid circulation is 1,500.
The De Queen Bee was established as a weekly newspaper on June 4, 1897, just a few weeks after the founding of the town of De Queen. In 1932, Ray and A.L. Kimball purchased the Sevier County Citizen, a weekly newspaper, and in 1933 they purchased the De Queen Bee and combined the two newspapers. What resulted was the De Queen Daily Citizen and the weekly De Queen Bee, both of which still publish today. Anita Kimball Marshall, Ray Kimball's daughter, is currently the majority owner and publisher of both newspapers.
