Title
Denver Gaels GAA Club - Kingpins of Gaelic Football in the Rockies
Description
The Denver Gaels was founded in 1996 and was primarily made up of Irish nationals living in the Denver metro area. The idea of a Gaelic team in Denver had been talked about over a few pints for a long time by the veterans in the area until finally the Dubliner in the group, Shay Dunne, took the initiative and called the first ever meeting at which the Denver Gaels was established. The Denver Gaels are the first ever Gaelic sports organization in the Rocky Mountain region.
The Irish community in Denver is relatively small so initially it was tough to field a team for competition. As a consequence a lot of young Americans have taken to the sport and to our delight have proven to be very capable Gaelic players. The club continues to grow and we are always looking for new members. So, to all you young Irish footballer's and hurlers looking to relocate to the states consider the beautiful Rocky Mountain region of Denver, Colorado. . . . . leave the rain and the bogs for long hot dry summers and a winter of skiing.
