Before Densal®, HIP of aluminum was too expensive for any applications other than aerospace. In the late 1980’s Bodycote developed Densal®and reduced costs dramatically, making the process applicable to high value added aluminum castings, such as those used in racing car engines. After 10 years of continuous development, Densal®II has now been introduced to make HIP affordable for mass-produced automotive aluminum castings.
