- Joined the RCMP and for 5 years served in the Kootenays, North Vancouver and in Vancouver's Criminal Investigation Branch
- Has practiced with a large Vancouver law firm defending personal injury and insurance claims
- Around 1974 founded his own firm, Feller & Associates
- In the 1990s was responsible for the provincial government removing the limitation period for victims of sexual abuse
- Active volunteer and director of Western Access to Justice, which provides free legal advice to people who cannot afford a lawyer
