Dead End Pages
What is a dead end page?
A dead end page is one that has no outgoing links. Thus, it creates a "dead end". This is an odd occurrence for a web page. By nature, web pages should link to other pages. The mere term "link" indicates this process. A dead end page leaves both the robot and the visitor with no other choice than to abandon the site since there's no where to go.
An orphan page is not linked to by another site. It can only be found by a search bot if it has been linked to externally. It can occur deliberately when a webmaster creates a “private” page, or by accident when a web development makes a mistake.
The worst thing about orphan pages is that they are useless for SEO and they can’t be seen by search bots.
With template-driven sites, it is quite difficult to create a dead end (you always have links in a sidebar, footer or banner). A common dead end is a 404 error page.
