Description
History of Dragon Boat Club of Boston
In July 2001, twenty dragonboaters from Boston paddled in the 6th Annual Montreal Dragon Boat Festival. They were greatly impressed by the spirit, teamwork, and athleticism of the Canadian teams. Fueled by their excitement, they founded Dragon Boat Club of Boston, Inc. in October 2001 to build a local infrastructure to support year-round dragon boat activity.
As a Massachusetts non-profit corporation, the club supports teams to compete in and beyond Boston. In April 2002, the club purchased its first fiberglass Great White North dragon boat. In October 2004, we got our second fiberglass boat. From April through October, the club operates practices six days a week from the Hatch Shell Dock on the Esplanade along the Charles River in Boston.
