Picture this, you're just an ordinary guy working an ordinary job and you need a motorcycle jacket. Some of your friends need jackets too. So you buy a bunch and get a quantity discount and sell a couple more and make a few extra bucks. Well that's basically how it happened. Mike Halker started dbGear Biker Gear in 1998 when he decided he was tired of working for other people and turned his interest in motorcycles into a business.
After reading a number of library books and internet articles on building web pages, Mike built www.dbGear.com. It was a small internet business with an occassional swap meet or flea market. After a number of requests from nearby bikers who found us online to meet somewhere to try on a jacket, we decided to get a store. It was a small place but big enough. Mike and Ron worked the shop which was sometimes really quiet. Things picked up though. Clarksville TN has a large community of supportive bikers and word of our great prices spread quickly.
Soon we expanded to ordering parts and rented the place next door in the strip mall, knocked out the wall, and opened a small bar. Yep, leathers and beer. What more do bikers need? Service.
