- Beginnings
- I was born and raised in Connecticut, and lived in Fairfield when I graduated from high school in 1968. I was not what you'd call a great student. The truth of the matter was that most of the required subjects bored me to tears, but I excelled in wood and metal shop and automotive class. My strength seemed to be in what I could do with my hands, whether it was building a model airplane, building something out of wood or metal or trying to fix something around the house that was broken. Sometimes, to the dismay of my parents, I would take things apart to see how they worked, and wasn't always able to put them back together.
