Dave Streiffer Company was one of the pioneers in the duty free and bonded warehouse industries. In the late 19th century, the Streiffer family was living in the New Orleans area and began to question the buying status of foreign nationals coming into the local ports. Streiffer reasoned his customers should be able to purchase certain merchandise without federal, state and local taxes.
