- Die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek ist die zentrale Archivbibliothek und das nationalbibliografische Zentrum der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek hat mehrere Vorgängereinrichtungen: 1912 wurde die Deutsche Bücherei Leipzig gegründet, 1947 die Deutsche Bibliothek Frankfurt am Main, zu der seit 1970 das Deutsche Musikarchiv Berlin gehört. Mit der Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands wurden diese Einrichtungen zu der Gesamtinstitution "Die Deutsche Bibliothek" vereinigt, die 2006 einen erweiterten gesetzlichen Auftrag und einen neuen Namen erhielt: Deutsche Nationalbibliothek.

- The German National Library is the central archival library and national bibliographic centre for the Federal Republic of Germany. It was preceded by several institutions: the Deutsche Bücherei Leipzig founded in 1912, the Deutsche Bibliothek Frankfurt founded in 1947, to which the Deutsches Musikarchiv in Berlin has belonged since 1970. On the occasion of the German reunification these institutions were brought together to form Die Deutsche Bibliothek, which in 2006 obtained both an expanded legal mandate and a new name: Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (German National Library).
