The history of cycling doesn’t appear to have a clear-cut beginning. There seemed to be a slow evolution from the ‘hobby-horse’, which had wheels but no pedals in 1817 to the current day bicycles that permeate current-day society throughout almost every country in the world. Over time, the introduction of pedals, chains, brakes, gears, comfortable seats, and a host of other accessories has seen the bicycle being adapted for many other uses other than just ‘getting around’.
