- A jeweler by trade, Virgilio Turrin was born in Cordenonce, Italy in 1927. Seventy kilometers North of Venice the town was also closely West of Yugoslavia and Southwest of Austria. Due to this geographic melting pot Virgilio became fluent in many languages and dialects. He came to the United States in 1934 and gained employment with Honora & Company, a jewelry firm based in New York City. He then moved on to The Better Jewelry Company where he worked his way up to Factory Foreman and was responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the firm.
