Description
Canada-Ukraine legislative and intergovernmental project (CULIP) has been carried out in Ukraine since 2000 as a project of Canadian technical assistance to Ukraine, the major task of which is to facilitate improving and reforming Ukrainian legislation, using Canadian experience. Canada-Ukraine legislative and intergovernmental project was a sequel of Canada-Ukraine project for legislative cooperation, which was carried out in 1996 - 1999 and established cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Canadian Parliament, which also directly forms Cabinet (Parliament) of Canada. That's why executive bodies of Ukraine, namely, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine became involved into cooperation at a new stage. This enabled the utmost consideration of positioning both of legislators and Ukrainian officials in the decision-making process while carrying out the project.
Canadian federal governmental institutions and provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan are Canadian partners with the project, as well as Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies to the Alberta University, which was provided a grant to implement and coordinate the Project.
Ukrainian partners to the project are the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Zakarpattia, Luhansk, Lviv, Tchernivetsk and Kirovohradsk oblasts and All-Ukrainian Charitable Fund "Community Capacity" (Hromadianska Enerhiya), which provides organizational assistance to the Ukrainian Project.
