Title
Clinical Social Work Federation, Inc.
Description
What is the CSWF?
The Clinical Social Work Federation is a confederation of 31 state societies for clinical social work. Our state societies are formed as voluntary associations for the purpose of promoting the highest standards of professional education and clinical practice. Each society is active with legislative advocacy and lobbying efforts for adequate and appropriate mental health services and coverage at their state and national levels of government.
Beyond supporting the state societies' aims, the Board of the CSWF seeks to keep clinical social work visible and understood, to generate clinical research, and to provide professional training and publications on the national level.
What is clinical social work?
Clinical social work practice is the provision of mental health services for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental, behavioral, and emotional disorders in individuals, families and groups. Clinical social workers have either a master's or doctorate in social work with a concentration in clinical course work, supervised graduate clinical field internship, and at least two years of post graduate supervised clinical social work employment.
