Terry Merritt from Jacksonville, Florida is among a handful of people in the United States experienced in the art of restoring chipped or broken crystal. Terry first learned the art of crystal repair in 1973 from Fred Austin, the gentleman credited with discovering crystal repair.
Now, for over 20 years Terry has worked full time in the business of giving new life to fine crystal that has been broken or damaged and he is now considered to be one of the best in the country.
Terry uses a resurfacing process; grinding away chips, rebeveling the rim and polishing with a diamond compound. If the chip is less than 1/4 inch deep, the piece can be restored to full value.
