If you look at a picture long enough, you're bound to find things that you, or others, have never seen before. You might even notice that a picture takes on a life of its own. Due to the nature in which they are drawn, optical illusions have the uncanny ability of enhancing those effects and fooling our mind and eyes into believing they're seeing what they're not.
