Description
Welcome to CRIC
The ESRC Centre for Research on Innovation and Competition (CRIC) undertakes fundamental research into institutional, economic, organisational and cultural aspects of the ‘Emerging Innovative Economy’. Our research is organized into three overlapping programmes of work: innovation in services; the relationship between innovation and consumption; and the evolving bio- and medical economies. CRIC enjoys close connections with government and leading firms in the UK and global economy. The Centre also participates in several major international research networks, adding an important comparative dimension to the research.
CRIC was created by the ESRC in 1997 to form a centre of excellence, in Manchester, at the interface of management and social sciences. The centre is part of the Institute of Innovation Research (IoIR) and is hosted by The University of Manchester. It draws upon the expertise of colleagues from the Faculty of Humanities, School of Social Sciences, the Manchester Business School and Policy Research in Engineering, Science and Technology (PREST).
The new CRIC Briefing Series is launched with 2 new papers: "Medical Innovation" and "Innovation in Services". These papers are intented to provide those involved in innovation and competition with a clear understanding of the main issues and findings presented by CRIC research and publication programmes.
