CREW 18 Since it was organized in 1956 as Explorer Post 18, lives have been saved because of the dedication and training of the teenage members of Crew 18.
IMPACT ON YOUTH But our real contribution to the community is our impact on the youth members. Although the public sees search and rescue as what we "do", Crew 18 has touched the lives of hundreds of young men and women in the last 45 years. Some of them have gone on to work in law enforcement, emergency medicine, outdoor recreation, and other careers related to what they learned in search and rescue. All of them have taken away valuable lessons in leadership, self discipline and self respect.
DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION To become a member of this type of organization requires a special type of person. The selection and training process is long - and tough.
