Cranberry Cottages weekly rentals near Bar Harbor, Maine
Description
Feeling that Acadia would make a wonderful home is what first led Evin and I to the island. I first came here as a summer visitor with my family, and Evin came here not knowing what to expect but discovered her home. As the myth goes, we first met in the Whale where we discovered a mutual interest in dogs and swine. Before getting into inn keeping, Evin managed a local restaurant and I was involved in construction. Our first rental was our house in Southwest Harbor. We would move out and the summer visitors would move in. Since then our vacation properties have grown to three home rentals and nine B&B rooms. After looking for years for the appropriate piece of property, we bought the main house of our B&B in downtown Bar Harbor, and opened with four rooms in the summer of '97. That same summer our first son Simon Henry was born. Two years later we purchased the property in back of the inn {Quietside Cottage}, and moved from the inn into our new home. And three years later, we fortunately were able to complete the Inn with yet a new home purchase, the renovations of the Quietside Cottage, and the arrival of new son Benjamin Michael.
Bar Harbor's village is a wonderful place to spend a holiday, and we feel very fortunate calling this place our home. Traveling is something Evin and I enjoy, and when we leave the island it is always rewarding when we return. There is a sense of overwhelming beauty accompanied by awe that is at times suppressed under the weight of our every day routine as Innkeepers. It is this feeling that every visitor feels when they approach Acadia and discover the riches of this special place. We joke with our guests that we have absolutely no time nor energy to enjoy Acadia during the season. And that we become kind of numb to what surrounds us. But in the end it is us that are staying put, and we couldn't be more pleased. We believe that we offer a little more to our guests then the typical innkeepers. We do all the things well that make staying in one of Bar Harbor B&B's unique, gourmet breakfasts prepared by Evin, comfortable rooms with traditional B&B flavor, and professionally run services. Our B&B is the last inn to be established in the village, and we have built and learned the business along the way. We are proud of the fact that our inn is truly a first generation enterprise. But what really separates us from the rest is that people enjoy our eagerness to help them plan their days in Acadia. And also the entertainment we serve up daily, running the inn and raising two boys along the way.
