Description
The Materials Resource Center, ARC's latest and most ambitious program, opened in Holbrook in the Town of Islip, March 1999. This Center obtains scrap and surplus materials from industry, and makes them available by the pound to individuals, arts, educational, and nonprofit organizations.
MRC is sponsored by the Town of Islip and has been funded in part by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Special thanks goes to the Rauch Foundation, the Sandy River Charitable Foundation, and the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation for their very generous support. Additional thanks for their support goes to the Long Island Community Foundation, the Long Island Unitarian Universalist Fund, the Roslyn Savings Foundation, and the Dellecave Educational Institute and Foundation.
From the west: Take the L.I.E. (Route 495) to Exit 57 and turn right at the second traffic light onto Veteran's Highway (Route 454). Head east about eight miles to the second traffic light (Lincoln Avenue) past the entrance to MacArthur Airport. Turn left and continue 1/2 mile to the last industrial complex (Lincoln Plaza) on the right. Enter the parking lot at the yellow sign by the road. The Materials Resource Center is at the far end.
