Canada Post Corporation Strategic Review

- The Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister responsible for the Canada Post Corporation has asked us to conduct a strategic review of the Corporation. We are asked to make recommendations to the Minister focusing on market and competition; public policy objectives and responsibilities; commercial activities and; financial and performance targets.
- We will respect the four guiding principles indicated in the terms of reference:
- Canada Post will not be privatized and will remain a Crown corporation;
- Canada Post must maintain a universal, effective and economically viable postal service;
- Canada Post will continue to act as an instrument of public policy through the provision of postal services to Canadians; and
- Canada Post will continue to operate in a commercial environment and is expected to attain a realistic rate of return on equity.
- We are seeking the input of stakeholders, interested groups and Canadians across the country and would appreciate receiving your submissions before the closing date of September 2, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
- We invite you to take part in our consultation process and prepare written submissions for our review.
