Description
COUNTRY MUSIC NEWS (CMN), an Ottawa-based publication, was founded in 1980, essentially to provide the Canadian country music artist and industry with accurate and meaningful print media exposure in Canada and around the world. CMN has published monthly since April,1980, serving the Canadian country music industry and readership. CMN is currently the only national print media serving Canadian country music artists and fans.
CMN has proven to be a very useful resource for the fan and the industry. CMN has published the first-ever Cover Stories on most of Canada’s top country artists including Shania Twain, Terri Clark, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, The Wilkinsons, Paul Brandt, Jason McCoy, Charlie Major, Chris Cummings, Michelle Wright, George Fox, Prairie Oyster, etc.etc. While providing the new artists coming on stream with their first national media exposure, CMN balances this support with extensive coverage on the stars of yesterday who have helped open the doors for today’s new breed. Through the years CMN has frequently chronicled the careers of such Canadian Hall of Fame acts as Hank Snow, Wilf Carter, Orval Prophet, Lucille Starr, Myrna Lorrie, Gary Buck, Family Brown, Carroll Baker, Dick Damron, Ray Griff, Ian Tyson, Ronnie Prophet, Gordon Lightfoot, etc. etc.
CMN has established a string of reporters from across the country, contributing monthy reports on the country music happenings in all parts of the country. These regular columns are supported by a monthly Nashville report as well as in-depth CD Reviews, feature articles, industry news, songwriter features, and a “Top 100 Cancountry Hit Chart”, plus many special items in each monthly issue. All of the print coverage is supported by dozens of exclusive photos of Canadian country music stars.
