Counterpoint Systems was founded in 1987 by Robert Katovsky. He spun the Counterpoint out from Complete Computer Services, the predecessor company he founded with partners in the 1970s. Counterpoint Systems was initially established to provide rights and royalty management software to the music industry. The original product lines were built for the IBM System 3x and AS/400 computers.
