- POSADA MIMOSA has been practising sustainable tourism since 1994, long before it became the “in” thing to do. We use solar energy to provide hot water, we have no dryers for our laundry preferring the sun’s energy instead. We use organic products on our lush tropical gardens, fruit trees, and in our septic tanks; our own well supplies an abundance of water; we plant trees, we make our own compost and recycle our garbage; use low energy light bulbs; use cardboard boxes instead of plastic bags to bring home our groceries; employ Costa Ricans from the local community and give donations for local projects. We encourage sugar cane farmers not to burn but to go organic. Indeed, we are “green” in every sense of the world
