The Greater Glens Falls area is rich in Early American History. In 1824 James Fenimore Cooper, while writing his novel, The Last of the Mohicans, used the bridge that connected South Glens Falls and Glens Falls. Cooper decided to use the cave beneath the bridge in his novel, the now famous Cooper’s Cave. The Cave and the area are now part of New York’s Independence Trail.
