Additional Information

Conspicuous Consumption is a project to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) worldwide. Many people in developed countries may think that TB has been cured and no longer poses a major threat to their health -- this could not be further from the truth. A low estimate by the World Health Organization credits TB with 1.7 Million deaths annually. Worse, on average each person with untreated TB will infect 10-15 new people annually. Surprisingly, the cost to treat Tuberculosis is remarkably affordable. The medicines required were developed over a half century ago and now come in many generic formats costing less than $20 for a full treatment regiment. The goal is to coordinate a worldwide effort to acquire large quantities of effective TB medication, oversee the dissemination of the medication, and systematically eliminate all instances of TB.
