ConsensusPollParticipant

Consensus Poll Participant

The first action to take if you want to participate in a consensus poll is to set your status. Your status is the answer to the question "Are we done?" The two answers we work with are "Yes" and "Not Yet." You are encouraged to change your status as often as necessary, as the document changes.

What do I do when my status is NotYet ?
  1. Change the document so that it works for you (see EfficientlyExpressedSuggestions) and change your status to YES .
  2. If you're not sure how to change the document so that it would be "done" for you, please attempt to articulate your concerns, as clearly as you can.
    Examples include:
    • I'm interested in this issue, but haven't had time to fully consider it yet.
    • I don't understand the document yet.
    • I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but it just doesn't feel right yet.
    • If we adopt this policy, the company will be out of business in less than a year because we will alienate our customers as well as our suppliers.
    • This is irresponsible. I will craft my own solution in the next few days and will then change the document.
    • Hmm.
What do I do when my status is YES ?
  1. Add a brief comment to your YES that tells a little more about your reasoning for being YES right now.
    Examples include:
    • As long as Jane's happy, I'm happy.
    • I'm not quite sure about section 3, but overall, I think this is a vast move in the right direction and even if we finish with section 3 as it is, we'll still be better off than we are today.
    • I don't have time to follow changes here right now, but looking at the participant list, I'm confident a great solution will come out of this process.
    • Looks good to me.
  2. If you would like to do more, you can further add value to the whole process by assuming the role of a ConsensusPollListener.
