Hummingbird was a Canadian company founded in 1984. It became known on the IT market for its flagship Exceed product which became the industry leading PC X Server. Eventually, the company evolved into a strong player in the connectivity market. In 1999, it diversified its activities by entering the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) market. On October 2006, Open Text acquired Hummingbird Ltd. Hummingbird Connectivity has since been re-branded, becoming the Open Text Connectivity Solutions Group.
