We are a volunteer organisation, comprising individuals who see a great opportunity to help others in Western Australia, and at the same time, pursue our vocational and in some cases our professional interests. All of us are eager to donate time to the community in order that everyone may share in the interests that we enjoy.
Some years ago, we recognised the great potential that Free Software such as GNU/Linux, and the availability of used computer equipment had to improve the lives of ordinary people in the community. Computer Angels Inc was born out of this recognition.
Computers to the community
This our core programme involves the refurbishment and distribution of used computer equipment to people in the community who would be otherwise unable to afford a computer. We ensure that the recipient is unencumbered by legal restrictions by installing the latest GNU/Linux operating system and some popular application packages. Participants complete 18 hours of training, (six sessions of three hours) to make sure they get the best advantage of the machine.
