ComputeFree was launched in early 2005 as an online window to the world of open source software for home and small business users.
Open source software is increasingly becoming a viable alternative to commercial software programs -- commercial programs that can cost an individual user hundreds of dollars. However, much of the online information available about open source software is targeted either at large businesses and scattered across the internet.
The goal of ComputeFree is to become the one stop resource for open source information, training, and products for the individual user and to help people liberate themselves from the treadmill of recurring licensing costs and forced upgrades ... to “compute free”.
