County citizens established Renville County Community Residence, Inc. (RCCR) on July 21, 1975. The goal was to have people with developmental disabilities stay near their families in Renville County. In July 1980, after 5 years of planning, the Grove Avenue residence (Intermediate Care Facility) was opened for adult clients in Bird Island. Since 1980 the organization has grown to include another home in Bird Island and homes in Olivia and Hector.
