About Us
Over the past 21 years, Commonwealth Parenting has offered education to families in the Richmond area to enhance and strengthen parenting skills. With the guidance, encouragement and counsel of our parent educators, families and communities are becoming stronger and more resilient. We have served approximately 40,000 families since 1984 and currently average 2,400 families per year. Parents often have concerns about their children's emotional needs, academic needs and mental health, and our family educators provide
Our rapidly changing society and the absence of extended family can leave many families feeling alone and overwhelmed. We offer a variety of professional expertise on many aspects of family life. Our services are funded by individual donations, local business partnerships and foundation grants. In addition, the active leadership by the board of directors is critical to our continued success.
