The Oscar Thompson store at Phipps Plaza, a premier upscale shopping center in Atlanta, Georgia, is geared as a fashion comfort shoe store. The majority of the shoes at our Phipps Plaza store is the Mephisto brand (known as the world’s finest walking shoes) and some fashion items that allow the customer, who is a fashion person, to feel what comfort is all about. Our Oscar Thompson store has been located at Phipps Plaza since 1978. It started out as a comfort shoe store. At that time, the store didn’t really get into high fashion. We carried almost any size, so when any customer came into the store, no matter what size shoe they were measured for, we would have them. Gradually progressing into the 80’s and late 80’s and 90’s, Oscar Thompson at Phipps Plaza became more of a comfort store, when comfort became more important as far as the quality of how the shoes were put together, rather than the shoe just being more pleasing to the eye.
