Description
The Sydney University Commerce Society (ComSoc) is one of the university's leading and biggest student societies. It was established by a group of enthusiastic students with the help of some of the biggest corporations. Since it establishment in 2002, the objective of ComSoc has been to help students enter the business world through activities aimed at its members. To achieve this, resources contribute to vocational activities and social events. ComSoc addresses both areas through a varied program of events. We organise and host seminars, skills improvement days, a mentoring program, corporate cocktails, a ball and other events. We help students to gain the most from their university experience, providing relevant careers events and providing sophisticated parties.
ComSoc aids students' career development through a series of seminars. Some address the career opportunities available to students who have chosen a particular major, while others aim to improve resume writing and interview skills, as well as writing skills in general. Sponsors attend campus regularly to conduct both these seminars and also to provide relevant information relating to their company, especially preceding graduate and internship application cut-off dates. This enables students to be better informed for the application processes which will hopefully result in them receiving an offer of employment or work experience, and if not, they will be better prepared in the future.
ComSoc also provides members with a variety of events at which they can mingle and meet other students - university is also about having fun! Cocktail parties, BBQs, free lunches, a pub crawl, an end of year party as well as the very popular annual ComSoc Ball fill the social diaries of members throughout the year.
