COI was founded in 1984 by Jack and Rosa Isleib. After their daughter's short term mission outreach in the late 70's, they were concerned about the spiritual needs of the unreached people of the world. Then, in 1981, Jack took a mission outreach to Finland and Russia that totally changed his life. He had worked in the business world for 22 years, but was now being led to something different. The Lord touched his heart concerning the need for short term mission opportunities and how the Lord could use these outreaches. Jack sold his manufacturing company, and he and his wife founded Christian Outreach International. COI's task is twofold: reaching the lost & the development & training of Christian believers who are called to "Go into all the world & preach the Gospel."
Our aim is to be effective witnesses using special gifts & talents to reach people where they are - on the streets, in the sports arenas, at their place of business, and in their homes. We link up with local national churches overseas that are faithful to Jesus Christ & the Word of God to disciple & lead the people who are touched by the COI ministry. COI is evangelical & interdenominational in practice. We cooperate enthusiastically with all who are committed to the authority & inspiration of the Scriptures. Without denominational affiliation or backings, we are supported in our work by the voluntary contributions of God's people & upheld by their prayers.
Statement of Faith & Doctrine
Christian Outreach International is an evangelical, international, & interdenominational Christian ministry using sports, music, drama, dance, witnessing & other vehicles as platforms to present the Gospel to all the world. Christian Outreach International believes in the essential & vital importance of the unity of the church. We recognize each member's Christian liberty to hold varying views within its established policy. The following is the basis of faith & doctrine of Christian Outreach International.
