Description
Thank you for your interest in The Church of the Covenant. In your visit to our web site, we hope you will become aware of the caring and friendly spirit that is so characteristic of our church family. In the words of our Mission Statement, we are committed to Christ, the spreading of His gospel, and sharing His grace by being involved in the joys and concerns of everyday life. To this end we commit ourselves to: call people to discipleship, worship, teach, care and share, serve, and provide fellowship to all God's children. We invite you to become a part of our church family and become involved in our ministry to the Arlington community and our world.
Worship is the central act of our church family which gathers every Sunday morning at 11 am (10:00 am June 17 - September 2, 2001). The lectionary and the church year are important guidelines that help shape our time together. The Senior Choir and the Youth Singers provide musical enhancement to our worship. Our beautiful new 10 rank Wicks pipe organ adds many notes of grace to our worship experience. Child care is provided for infants through 2nd grade. A lay lector program and children's story sermons are regular features on Sunday mornings. After worship all are encouraged to join us for refreshments and fellowship in the lobby of our education wing. Our facility is handicapped accessible, except between floors. A new handicapped accessible bathroom has been added in an area adjacent to the Fellowship Hall on the lower level. The sanctuary is equipped with a sound amplification system.
Our Program of Christian education begins at 9:45 AM on Sunday mornings with classes for children and adults. Child care for infants and toddlers is provided. A men's fellowship group, "The Monday Morning Quarterbacks," meets every Monday morning at 8:30 am in the Teen Lounge. On Tuesday mornings a Bible Study is led by the Pastor in the Library/Lounge at 10 am. On Fridays a Faith Discovery Group meets in the home of one of our members. A number of book discussion groups and small group dinners are organized on a regular basis. The Overlee Preschool, an independent cooperative preschool, is located in our building with classes for 2, 3, and 4-year-olds. Priority is given to children of church families.
