Green Power - Western Resource Advocates

Description

About Us

Founded in 1989, Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is a non-profit environmental law and policy organization dedicated to restoring and protecting the natural environment of the Interior American West. With more than 22 employees and offices in two states (Colorado and Utah), we have developed strategic programs in three areas: Water, Energy and Lands. We meet our goals in collaboration with other environmental and community groups, and by developing solutions that are appropriate to the unique environmental, economic and cultural framework of this region. We have an active board that meets four times a year.

Mission and Vision

Western Resource Advocates' mission is to protect and restore the land, air and water resources of the Rocky Mountain States. Our team of lawyers, scientists and economists works to promote a clean energy future for the Interior West that reduces pollution and the threat of global warming; to restore degraded river systems and to encourage urban water providers to use existing water supplies more efficiently, so we can meet human needs while protecting rivers, streams, and aquifers; and to protect public lands across the region from the twin threats of energy development and unauthorized off-road vehicle travel. Across our programs, we empower local conservation groups and seek out opportunities to partner with others who share our goal of protecting the western way of life. WRA recognizes that success can only come from working collaboratively with other conservation groups, hunters and fishermen, ranchers, American Indians, and all those who seek a sustainable future for this remarkable part of the country.
